1. Purpose
This IT Policy governs the acceptable use of information technology resources — including computers, internet, network infrastructure, software, and digital data — at Hiralal Ramniwas Post Graduate College, Khalilabad. The policy aims to ensure responsible, ethical, and secure use of IT infrastructure.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors who use college IT resources.
3. Acceptable Use
- IT resources are to be used primarily for academic, research, and administrative purposes
- Users must use only their authorised credentials to access systems
- Downloading or distributing copyrighted material is prohibited
- Users must not access, modify, or delete data that does not belong to them
- Use of college internet for illegal activities is strictly prohibited
4. Internet Usage
- Internet is provided for academic and research purposes
- Visiting pornographic, gambling, or illegal websites is strictly prohibited
- Excessive personal use of internet/social media during working/class hours is not permitted
- VPN or proxy services to bypass college network filters are prohibited
5. Data Security
- All users must use strong passwords and change them periodically
- Users must not share their login credentials with others
- Student academic records and personal data shall be handled with strict confidentiality
- Any suspected security breach must be reported immediately to the IT department
6. Software
- Only licensed and authorised software shall be installed on college computers
- Users must not install unauthorised software
- Antivirus software shall be kept up to date on all systems
7. Social Media
- Users must not post content that defames the college, its staff, or students on social media
- Official college social media accounts shall be managed only by authorised persons
- Personal social media should not claim to represent the college
8. Violations and Consequences
Violations of this policy may result in suspension of IT access, disciplinary action, and/or legal proceedings as appropriate.
