1. Commitment Statement

Hiralal Ramniwas Post Graduate College is committed to providing a workplace and academic environment free from sexual harassment. The college strictly adheres to The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all:

  • Faculty members (permanent, temporary, part-time, contractual)
  • Non-teaching staff
  • Students (UG, PG, Diploma)
  • Visitors, guests, and third parties on campus

3. Definition of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behaviour (directly or by implication) such as:

  • Physical contact and advances
  • Demand or request for sexual favours
  • Making sexually coloured remarks
  • Showing pornography
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
  • Creating a hostile, intimidating or offensive environment
  • Implied or explicit promise of preferential treatment in exchange for sexual favours

4. Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

The college has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as per the POSH Act with:

  • A Presiding Officer (senior woman faculty member)
  • At least two members from faculty/non-teaching staff committed to women's causes
  • One external member from NGO/legal background

5. Complaint Procedure

  • Complaints must be submitted in writing to the ICC within 3 months of the incident
  • The ICC shall complete enquiry within 90 days
  • Confidentiality shall be maintained throughout the process
  • Both parties shall be given equal opportunity to present their case

6. Protection Against False Complaints

Filing false or malicious complaints shall also be treated as a misconduct and appropriate action shall be taken against the complainant.

7. Awareness and Training

The college shall organize regular awareness programmes, workshops and training sessions for students and staff on prevention of sexual harassment.
